Hundreds of people lined the streets of downtown Menomonie for the annual WinterDaze parade on Thursday, December 8, 2011. The parade, in its eighth year, is organized by Main Street of Menomonie and many volunteers. This year’s parade included 39 floats and was sponsored by 25 individuals and businesses. The parade announcer was Jay Fahl; this year’s parade floats were judged by Liz Lammer, Gary Theelke and Dennis Kropp. Floats are judged in three categories; the winners were: Best Illumination – 24/7 Telcom; Best Mechanical Animation – Cedar Corp and Judge’s Choice: Country Doctors Veterinary Service.
In conjunction with the WinterDaze Parade many downtown businesses also participated in a window decorating contest which was judged with the winner announced at the WinterDaze Parade. First place in this contest was won by Mike’s Art & Design Supply and was followed closely with a tie for second place between Jill’s My Style Studio and La dee dah.
