Main Street Menomonie invites you to the 7th Annual Downtown Great Community Cookout, this Thursday, September 9th. The event is being held from 4:00p.m. – 9:00 p.m., on 4th Street, between Main Street and Wilson Ave. Features: locally prepared foods and desserts, Car Show, kids games and Activities, Fritter the Clown, Face Painting by Betty Verdon, Caricatures by Jason, Beer Garden, Live Music by “Polly Baker” (with special guests Joplin, Belle, Kali, and Cyrus) 6-9 sponsored by Visit Eau Claire.

Family and Consumer Sciences Education Conference Friday, Sept. 24, at the UW-Stout.

About 250 teachers from Wisconsin and Minnesota are expected at the annual Family and Consumer Sciences Education Conference Friday, Sept. 24, at the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

The conference, beginning at 8 a.m. at the Memorial Student Center, will feature nearly 30 presentations.

Menomonie will ask to have lawsuit dismissed

Menomonie City Attorney John Behling says claims lack merit and are an attempt to override the Common Council’s unanimous decision to approve the development.

“We believe the Common Council acted fully within their legislative discretion when they approved this economic development project,” says Behling.

Behling says the city will be filing papers in the upcoming weeks asking the court to dismiss the lawsuit.

A group calling itself “Concerned Property Owners of Menomonie” has filed a lawsuit against the Menomonie City Council.

The complaint, filed last Friday with the Dunn County Clerk of Court, alleges that the city council violated its own planned unit development (PUD) requirements by approving, on July 29, the Phase I final plan for AHMC Asset Management’s development of the former Leever’s grocery store site.

Consultant chosen by downtown revitalization group

Menomonie, Wis. — A consultant has been hired to work with a Menomonie group to recommend ways to redevelop downtown.

LHB Inc. of Minneapolis, a design firm that offers services throughout the Midwest, will use its experience in community design and planning when it joins forces with the revitalization group to define a shared community and university vision and to create a comprehensive, market-driven strategy for encouraging downtown development, group members said.
