Main Street board accepts resignation of executive director; appoints interim

Menomonie, Wis.—Laura Short has resigned from her position as executive director of Main Street of Menomonie Inc. Her husband has accepted a faculty position with a university in Texas and the family is relocating in August.

“It will be hard to leave Menomonie,” Short said. “I have made many friends here, and I have enjoyed working for Main Street of Menomonie. Becoming the organization’s executive director and working with the downtown retailers has made me appreciate and love this town even more.”

“It has been my pleasure to lead Main Street initiatives,” Short continued, “and I am optimistic about downtown’s future.”

The board of directors accepted her resignation at its meeting July 21. Short’s last day is July 30.

The board also appointed Kate Hearley to serve as interim director until a permanent replacement is hired.

Cutting for a cause

A sixth grade student at Menomonie Middle School donated her hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, an organization specializing in making free wigs for women battling cancer. The student had her hair cut at Jill’s My Style Studio in downtown Menomonie.
